English Language – A level
This is an interesting and engaging course for anyone who is interested in finding out how language works. It is essentially a course in applied linguistics, the ‘science’ of English. You will study contemporary language issues and ‘live texts’ rather than complete books. Over the two year course, you will study social, historical, geographical and individual varieties of English, including the study of child language acquisition. You will also undertake an independent investigation of language use, where you will negotiate your own area of research interest.
