Employability Skills – Level 1
What are employability skills?
Employability is about making connections between study, personal development and other activities in order to find, gain and be successful in your chose career, and contribute to society. Employability skills are those skills necessary for getting, keeping and being successful in a job. This qualification will provide you with the foundation of your career building blocks and enhance your employability.
Why should I study this qualification?
Suitable for those who are preparing to enter employment, this qualification will enable you to develop a strong employability profile and will make you much more employable and successful in your career.
Course structure and content
At the beginning of the course you will complete initial assessments in literacy and numeracy to determine your current level. These will simply identify areas of strength and areas requiring improvement and will assist the Tutor in meeting your learning needs.
You will develop communication and presentation skills and learn how to effectively work as a member of a team. With the encouragement and support of your Tutor you will learn how to complete a job application and prepare for an interview.
How will I be assessed?
The Level 1 Award in Employability Skills is internally assessed. With the support of your tutor you will complete tasks and prepare a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate you knowledge and understanding.
Attendance is 2-hours a week for 12 weeks. You will also be expected to complete work in between sessions.
There are no formal entry requirements.
On successfully completing this qualification you may have the opportunity to progress to a Level 1 Certificate.
