Student-run shop – now open for business
Students from the Endeavour Faculty are celebrating the opening of their new shop in the Priory Centre at Prior Pursglove College.
The students who are coordinating the retail space are currently studying Retail Level 2 NCFE and as part of obtaining the qualification, they are looking forward to earning some vital works experience.
The shop which will be run by students will host a range of items including clothing, books, bags and more. They intend for the shop to be open during the week, several times a day, to give students or members of the public chance to grab a bargain.
As well as looking for contributions from the public of bric-a-brac or second hand goods, they would also like to invite donations for Local Food Banks and local animal charity SARA. Donation boxes are clearly displayed in the shop and all donations will be gratefully received.
Faculty Manager, Anne Donovan said:
“At Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College, we are always looking for different ways to prepare our students for life. Having our own shop set up and run by the students is an excellent way of providing work experience to those who are not quite ready to go out into the world of employment and will give them some valuable work experience, skills and confidence. The shop will be open several times each day during the week, term time only.
“It will also be open on Saturday 3rd December as part of the College Information Morning when it will include a visit from Father Christmas. Please come along, find out about the college and bring your children for a Christmas treat.”
Retail student, Ben Forrest, who is coordinating the project said:
“I am feeling very happy about the opening. We have put a lot of hard work into the shop over the last 8 or 9 weeks and I am feeling very proud of what we have achieved.”
The shop is now open and is actively looking for donations. If you are coming along to our Information Morning on Saturday 3rd December, 10am – 12.30pm, please make sure you stop by.
