Students are ‘Career Ready’

A group of ten students attended the Mayor’s Chamber in Redcar for a special graduation ceremony from the college’s Career Ready programme.

The students have all completed the two year qualification alongside their usual studies at the college and met with the Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland, Barry Hunt, to officially graduate.

Career Ready is designed to prepare students on advanced level courses in Business and Finance for life after college with additional experiences to help them with their future career. They undertake field trips, business visits and master classes in employability skills, interviewing techniques and networking plus a paid six week internship with one of our partner organisations which include Redcar and Cleveland Council, Santander, Yorkshire Bank, Barclaycard and Money Matters. Not only do students develop their theoretical business and finance knowledge, but also gain a real insight into the way businesses operate in the real world.

Paul Grainger, Career Ready Coordinator at Prior Pursglove College said: “The Career Ready programme is invaluable for preparing students for success after leaving college not just by their academic skills but the tangible employability skills they gain.

“This fantastic opportunity for our students could not be achieved without the hard work and dedication of all our business partners who we would like to sincerely thank.”

The graduating students were: Harry Donnelly (ex Acklam Grange School), Naeem Ghani (ex Acklam Grange School), Gemma Bagley (ex Sacred Heart R C School), Cally Johnson (ex Sacred Heart R C School), Shona Frankland (ex Ormesby School), Hannah Benstead (ex Laurence Jackson School), Georgia Foster (ex Outwood Academy Bydales), Katie McGrath (ex Ormesby School), Akeel Majid (ex Acklam Grange School), Germaine Hatton (ex Rye Hills School), Zoe Limon (ex Huntcliff School) and Faye Gardner (ex Redcar Academy).
