Students help to celebrate 50 years of the Guisborough Choral Society

Ten students from Prior Pursglove College have helped to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Guisborough Choral Society, by taking part in the Guisborough Festival of Song.

The two week festival which opened on Saturday 10th June with the Concert of Light Music featured music from the Guisborough Choral Society as well as a group of student musicians who supported the event by accompanying the choir in a number of songs.

The two week festival will see a number of community based events celebrating 50 years of the society. These also include The Festival Songs of Praise taking place at Gisborough Priory on June 18th at 2:30pm and the 50th Anniversary Concert on June 24th at Guisborough Methodist Church at 7:30pm.

The Prior Pursglove College Ensemble included Ben Boyd, Ben Fountain, Daniel Tansley, Ben Napier, Rebecca Aspin, Julia Domingues, Nathan Booth, Saskia Davitt, Isobel Baxter and Elizabeth Nicholson playing a range of instruments.

Teacher of Music at Prior Pursglove College, Helen Kirk said:

“I’m very proud of all the students who took part in Saturday’s concert, especially those who are in the midst of their final A-level exams.  They showed a real commitment to the college and the local community.  Soloist Elizabeth Nicholson is off to study for a Music degree at university in the autumn and gave a vibrant and captivating performance.  They were all fantastic!”

Well done to everyone involved.
