A vocational qualification giving students an introduction to practical science.
Topics covered in the first year include key concepts in all science areas, applied experimental techniques and science in the modern world. In the second year you can undertake a scientific investigation, study the human body and an optional unit in biology, chemistry or physics.
Assessment is a combination of coursework and examined units allowing learners to apply their knowledge in a practical way. It is an ideal qualification for students looking at healthcare related careers such as nursing, radiography etc. or those who would enjoy studying for a general science qualification. It is fully supported by some of our popular university choices such as Teesside, Sunderland and York St John. It is a two year qualification equivalent to a full A Level in terms of UCAS points.
