Competitive Courses

At Prior Pursglove we welcome students from all levels at school into the college to study with us. We pride ourselves on creating tailored study programmes that allow our students to excel and set them up for their future after college whether it be university, apprenticeships or entering the world of work.

Some courses do require a minimum grade average, please see below how to calculate your G Score and to find out more about our competitive courses.

HOW TO WORK OUT THE G SCORE

In order to match with the perfect study plan for you we look at your G Score, these are based on GCSE grades only.

Each grade is allocated a numerical value, these individual numbers are then added up and divided by the number of subjects.

9 = 9     8 = 8      7 = 7      6 = 6      5 = 5      4 = 5      3 = 4      2 = 3      1 = 2

A* = 8    A = 7      B = 6      C = 5      D = 4      E = 3       F = 2       G = 1

For example, if your grades were as follows.

English Language 8 (8), English Literature 7 (7), Maths 8 (8), Science (Combined) 66 (12), Geography 5 (5), French 8 (8), Art 8 (8)

Total 56 divided by 9 (the number of subjects) – G Score of 6.22
