
Autism is part of a range of related developing disorders known as autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). They begin in childhood and last through adulthood.
WHY SHOULD I STUDY THIS QUALIFICATION?
This course will develop your understanding of autism and the principles of supporting individuals with autism – covering the person-centred approach and influence of positive communication methods, how to support positive behaviour and how individuals with autism can be supported to live healthy and fulfilled lives.
COURSE STRUCTURE & CONTENT
Attendance is 2-hours a week and this course includes the following units:
Level 3
Unit 01 Autism in context
Unit 02 Positive behavioural support for individuals with autism
Unit 03 Understand support and management of transitions for individuals with autism
Unit 04 Therapeutic interventions and support available for individuals with autism and co-occurring conditions
Unit 05 Communication and social interaction with individuals with autism
Unit 06 Safeguarding and resilience in autism
Your tutor will assess you on specific written and practical tasks and with support and guidance you will prepare a portfolio of evidence. This will include the work you have completed throughout the course and will demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the subject. Your portfolio must be submitted at the end of the course to gain the qualification.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification.
