Drug and Alcohol Awareness
This course is designed to provide an introduction to understanding substances. Learners will gain knowledge of specified substances and their affects. There will be opportunities to gain information, advice and guidance relevant to learner’s individual preference in relation to substances, such as voluntary, paid employment and further training routes. This qualification is suitable for learners regardless of prior learning and will provide learners with an opportunity to:
- Gain knowledge and understanding of aspects of healthy living
- Gain skills, where relevant to the units selected to meet individual needs
- Develop wider skills including: numeracy, literacy and social skills
- Progress onto a chosen vocational course or other training programme and prepare for further learning
Why should I study this qualification?
This is a vocational course, useful to anyone wishing to make their first steps back into learning or employment. If you are looking for employment, in the fastest growing sector (health and social care) this course would be ideal. Substances are everywhere and knowledge is power, maybe you have a child and would like to be aware of the illegal substances that are on the streets.
Course structure and content
You will be taught to understand the different type of substances, develop wider skills, and develop awareness of the affects to someone who misuses substances, their family, friends and the wider society. During all courses we hope to develop confidence, esteem and Communication, with the support and encouragement of your Tutor you will take part in a range of class activities.
How will I be assessed?
Don’t worry there is no exam. With the support of your tutor you will complete tasks and prepare a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate you knowledge and understanding of the subject. You will do this by working in groups, taking part in activities and researching.
There are no formal entry requirements.
The fee for this course is TBC.
On successful completion of this qualification you may have the opportunity to progress onto either a Level 1 Certificate or a Level 2 Award in any subject.
