Staff and students at Prior Pursglove College joined the region in pausing to remember those who lost their lives in the two World Wars and later conflicts in a special service at 11am on Wednesday 11th November.
The annual ceremony, led by Principal Judy Burton, was attended by staff, students, pupils from Egton Primary School, Zetland Primary School and Kirkleatham Hall School and colleagues from Askham Bryan College.
College students and school pupils read aloud poems and stories of remembrance and observed a poignant two minutes’ silence before laying wreaths at a place of memorial.
Judy Burton, Principal at Prior Pursglove College, said: “Each year staff and students come together to remember those who sacrificed so much in past and present conflicts.
“We joined with local schools to observe the national two minutes’ silence and also marked the tribute with moving readings and personal stories.
“The event was a fitting tribute to our heroic servicemen and women.”
