Q & A Session for Parents of Applicants via our website LiveChat.
Wednesday 24th March 5.00pm – 7.00pm
Tuesday 29th June 4:30pm – 7:30pm
We have provisionally scheduled a face to face, in person Open Evening as we would love you to come and see us for real but of course this is subject to Government guidelines and could change to another virtual event if the need arises. If that isn’t possible on such a large scale, we may be able to offer individual tours. We will keep you informed as things change and the guidelines hopefully relax a little. Until then don’t forget we do have the virtual tour on the college website which does give you an idea of what the college is about and what our campus looks like.
Friday 9th July
Again depending on how things evolve, under normal circumstances we would invite applicants to the college to spend the full day with us on our Preview Day – sampling lessons, familiarizing themselves with the campus and finding out those final details about courses they are hoping to study. If we can do this safely, the date we have pencilled in is Friday 9th July. If this is not possible, we are planning an online, virtual Prior Summer School which will have extension activities, quizzes, subject information, taught lessons, students’ experiences and much more.
Friday 13th August – Wednesday 18th August
(Subject to Government Advice)
Again, these dates are very much provisional but as a rule of thumb enrolment follows the day after the GCSE results are available. Applicants will receive a letter in early August giving them their time slot for their interview (which will hopefully be socially distanced but face-to-face; if not possible, we will enrol over the phone). We know from experience that some students come knowing exactly what they want to study, and others need more guidance to help them decide. Either way isn’t a problem; we want to make sure the right students are on the right courses. If you have a preference for a particular date or can’t make any of them, please let us know and we will arrange an alternative appointment.
Start of term for new students
Wednesday 1st September
Again, this is subject to the current situation improving and we are hoping that we will have our students back with us, but of course we must adhere to Government guidelines to keep us all as safe as possible. Wednesday 1st September and Thursday 2nd September are for our new students only so that we can help them settle into college and quickly feel at home with us. Our second year students then come in for the following two days and on Tuesday 7th September both of the year groups will be in college.
