About Us

Message from the Principal_MG_2866

If you want to study in beautiful, uniquely historic surroundings, with over 1000 like-minded young people who are excited about learning and ambitious about their future, then you’ve come to the right place!

Our wonderful college has been delivering the highest quality education for over 450 years – very few have that claim to fame. But don’t be fooled – our facilities are 21st century and will enable you to enjoy an absolutely first rate learning experience. Our teachers are experts in their field – specialists who focus exclusively on delivering their subjects.

Year after year we succeed in supporting students to Oxford or Cambridge, to study competitive courses such as veterinary science, medicine and dentistry, also to physiotherapy, midwifery and teaching – to name but a few.

We pride ourselves on being an inclusive college with an offer for every young person. We understand that things don’t always go according to plan and sometimes a re-think is needed – that’s fine.

Our track record in securing sustained positive destinations is unparalleled across the region.

In other words, whether you want to go to university, an apprenticeship or a job we have the specialist staff, expertise and drive to deliver that with you. In fact we are in the top 10% of all sixth form colleges with a 96% positive progression rate.

Anyone visiting Prior Pursglove is immediately struck by the wonderful surroundings on the Guisborough site which students often describe as reminiscent of a university campus.

The atmosphere is calm and purposeful, with an overwhelming focus on learning and mutual support across the whole campus community. Teachers, managers, support staff all play an integral part in ensuring that all our students have everything they need to make progress beyond their expectations and have a great experience along the way.

Don’t take my word for it – come along to one of our popular open evenings and see for yourself.

There will be current students – our ambassadors – who give their time freely because they want to share with you the fabulous experience they’re having here.

Prior Pursglove is a special place – we challenge and support in a way that will inspire you to new achievements and unexpected destinations. I hope that you will find our unique offer irresistible and come and be part of Prior!

See you soon,

Joanna Bailey – Principal
