Politics – A level
This is an engaging and lively subject based on contemporary political issues. You will explore how the government works and examine modern political controversies, such as:
- Has the Prime Minister become too powerful?
- Is there any real difference between the major political parties?
Politics students need to have an interest in:
- Current affairs
- Understanding the modern world.

In the first year, you study two examined units, one focuses on the issues in UK Politics from political parties and pressure groups to democracy and elections. The other unit looks at institutions of government and their role in the UK system. In the second year the focus is on American Politics.
