Memories of Prior: When I enrolled I was directed to suitable courses and it had given me a broad variety of career paths to chose from and explore. The staff are very friendly and motivate you to achieve your full potential and the best grades. I received a lot of support from them throughout the years and I really enjoyed my time at the college.
I also enjoyed being around friends and having some free time to rest and revise.
About the journey: During my time at Prior Pursglove College, I had studied A-Level Business Studies, A-Level Health & Social care and B-Tec Law.
By studying the variety of subjects I had chosen, it had broadened my career options. This had allowed me to determine that I was mostly interested in pursuing a career within Finance. I had then went on to studying an undergraduate Accounting & Finance degree at Teesside University, graduating with a First Class Honours.
Once leaving University, I had gained experience within finance by doing an summer internship and working in payroll.
I applied to graduate schemes within the big 4, and secured a role within Ernst & Young (EY) as an Assurance Associate. I am now undertaking my professional qualification through EY, by taking the ICAEW ACA exams. As well as this, I am gaining experience working as an auditor. My day to day tasks consists of testing different areas of company accounts to ensure they are true
and fair.
What I love most about my job is that it is challenging. I am working with different companies and completing different tasks each week/month. This has helped to broaden my knowledge and skills. In addition to this, we are usually at client site and are speaking to clients face to face. I enjoy this as there is change of atmosphere and we are not always working at home office.
Being at EY so far has allowed me to build my network and meet some very inspiring people.
